Shea butter comes from a renewable resource : the stone of
a green, sweet and fleshy fruit. The fruit trees grow wild
throughout the West African savannah. Women and their children
collect these fruits, high in vitamins. after consumption,
the pits are collected and treated to extract their soft,
healing butter.
A striking point with this traditionnal activity is that
it is a women driven activity. All the incomes generated are
directly reinvested by the women in the improvement of the
life-conditions of their family.
Songtaaba-Yalgré produces two type of butter: the
traditionnal quality one, Karipur, and the organic one, Karibio.
Songtaaba proposes also shea butter soaps and aromatic spices,
another traditionnal activity of the women of Burkina-Faso.
These products are distributed in Europe and North America
via a network of distributors for the individual customers
or can be ordered directly for important orders.
